The Tender  -  July 1st, 2022

Here is the latest from Bogs Locomotive works.  I always like to build the tender first on any rod loco project, because once the engine is ready to run, I want to be able to test it with the tender for clearances.  The boys in the shop have been busy working on the tender and was able to complete the build.  I do not want to bore you with the details of the build, as it was the same as the Big Boy tender, except that it was built to carry oil, instead of coal, per the phototype.  The 844 as delivered in 1944 was a coal burner, but within a year, it was converted to burn oil.  The BLW tender rides on ball bearing wheel sets and rolls very well.  I will direct the boys to make the draw bar for the tender, once the engine is built and ready to run.  Well there you have it, now on with the engine!  -  Barry
