Union Pacific  Big Boy  4018

Maiden Run - May 13th, 2022

Everyone turned out to celebrate Big Boy 4018 arriving on the RR! The engine was fired up and the crew was seated. The engineer pulled back on the throttle, and a great burst of sound and motion came to life. The consist was on it's way! The crew was very careful because of the tight clearances on the RR and one of the crew lost their hat when a tree limb hit them in the face. When the engine arrived at the Rockwood station, the towns folk went wild seeing how large the engine was. They wanted it to stay, but the crew had orders and it was time to depart.  Slowly the consist moved out on the high line and the crew tried to not look down. After it safely passed over the high line bridge and ducked into the tunnel, it emerged in the Silverton area, to make it's way back to Durango. All in all, it was a wonderful trip and everyone went home happy and ready for more next time. Well there you have it. another job and dream complete.
