Barry Bogs'  1/22.5  scale Union Pacific  Big Boy  4018 Pilot Deck - Feb. 20th, 2021

The boys in the shop have been building the deck on the front engine assembly. It is kind of like building a treehouse when you were a kid. When it is finished, you just want to stand on the top and say you are the King of the Hill! Once the deck was finished, I had the boys plumb all of the pipes and mount them on the deck. I thought about having the boys work on the large steam pipes and joints, but without the boiler in place, it would be difficult to answer some of the questions I have on lengths and clearance. I think the boys had a sigh of relief, when I said, lets just work on them later. The boys and other folks have been asking when the boiler was going to be built, so... on with the boiler. The boiler is not going to be easy, but with this project, nothing has been. .   - Barry
