| Boiler assemble is now complete, with the various tapers in the boiler seen here, with bands around the boiler. Plus the smokebox door is built and many rivots (HO track nails) were put in as well. |

"After the basic boiler
was finished in the last update, I directed the boys to get the rivets and
staybolts finished on the boiler and then move on to the cab support and
running boards. Well, the boys seemed like they were taking their good sweet
time to get the rivets done. When I asked them about it, trying to hold back
my thoughts, they reminded me that every rivet or staybolts had to be marked
for location, drilled, inserted, and set in place. They said why don't I try
it, so I did..... well, I remember now why it takes so long when your doing
over a thousand of them on the boiler alone.....Once that part was done, I
felt that the cab support was the next thing to install. With that done, the
running boards were the next step to get it on it's way. Fitting them was not
easy either, as the boiler is not straight, and required many test fits to get
it right. With the boardwalks done, the smoke box door was on the menu.
Although the details are not finished on the door, it was time to call it a
day, and I let the boys go home... " - - Barry
