| Work on the pilot was performed and completed. Many custom made, brass pieces were fabricated for the pilot of this engine, as the photos show. |

"I had the boys get back
to the shop and start working on the 2-10-2 F81 engine again. The focus was on
the front of the chassis this time. The boys in the erection shop forged a
pilot deck, and beam, and attached them to the chassis at the right height.
Then the fabrication shop boys, built the tube pilot to fit the pilot beam.
All the extra steps, and cutting leaver and coupler pocket were fabricated and
attached. With the pilot assembly done, the rear frame extensions and
trailing wheels are next. Until next time, keep the trains on the track and
