Lobato Bridge opened - November 2000
The first train ran over the bridge on Saturday
morning, 11/4/2000.
Although not finished in these photos from
11/10/00, the bridge scan is completed, the track across it running, the first
of five trestle bents installed, and trains are running around the upper level
loop, from Silverton to Ophir...
And Gn3 TRAINS ARE RUNNING OVER THE LOBATO BRIDGE

Slow Freight over the Lobato Bridge. 15ft long. See the tree outside?

K-27 eases over bridge, lower level track below and stairs on lower right
|
The first and tallest bridge bent is now in place, and its almost 5 feet
tall!
|
The big picture! Its 15 feet across, and 16 feet down to the floor
|
From 16ft below, we see the stairs going under the scenery's "false
floor"

A K-36 eases a Gn3 passenger train over Lobato Bridge on 11/10/00
|
Its a long train, but still only half way across the 15 foot long bridge
|
Just imagine if Janet would let mountains be painted on the walls?
|
Lobato Bridge! The lower level track is the main line loop's "high
line" area
|
Imagine this view, once all five of the massive bridge bents are installed
|
The bents are modeled after the prototype. Scenery comes later on.
|
Once all bents and the full scenery is done, this is what it should look like
