Lane Littlefield  -  Tennessee Central Railway  -  N

The layout is a prototype-based replica of the Tennessee Central Railway circa 1951. The 12' X 18' room features the South Junction Yard (in Nashville), the "Belt Line" around Nashville, downtown industrial area, some online towns, Dupont Chemical plant and the Eastern & Western Divisions into staging.  Future phase 3 will include a lengthened belt line, expansion of both the eastern and western divisions and adding the full-size Nashville depot and freight house.  Power is DC with blocking and should have three operators.  Construction continues with a goal of operational ability by convention date.

The 248-mile Tennessee Central Railway ran west over the Cumberland Mountains from Harriman TN, through Nashville, to Hopkinsville KY.  The TC made it's living as a connection into Nashville for the Illinois Central RR (from Hopkinsville) and the Southern Ry (from Harriman).  In Nashville, the TC interchanged with the L&N and NC&St.L.

The year of 1951 is looking positive for the TC.  With a 50% increase in profit for 1950, the outlook is very good. Brand new Alco RS3 diesels are on site, passenger travel is up at Fort Campbell KY due to the Korean War and the prospect of hauling coal to the new TVA power plant at Kingston will keep the railroad busy.  Only a few steamers are left on the road as the Baldwins (DRS 4-4-1000) and Alcos (FA1 & RS3) have taken over most of the railroad duties.
