Question # 10

Please provide any suggestions you may have for the Sn3 2010 Symposium. From things to add, things to avoid, issues you noticed or stuff you liked, from other events.

I would like to see a social event before the Saturday Night Awards.
I did not like the layout flyer from last year. It was to small and I thought the general map lacked details neened to plot out my visits.
My notations on the contest may be wishful thinking but I plan to do something.

In these economic times, a convention MUST offer more than just same-old-things as in the past to make it worth attending. There must be something besides just trains, and something worth the trip for my wife. Just to talk with fellow Sn3 folks isn't enough to make the trip worthwhile.

The biggest seller for me is the clinics. Great clinics equals a great convention. I'd bring a contest model or two, but only if it is close enough to drive. I don't trust airport TSA with any of my models.

Please avoid last minute changes to the clinic schedule

It has gotten important to me to have the event at a nice hotel which isn't overpriced. It is nice to not need to drive if you don't want.

Please don't change times for the clinics, as they did in Denver. Clinics and Loyout tours are the most important things at the symposium!

Make sure the restaurant at the hotel is staffed in the morning to handle the breakfast crowd. Likewise make sure the bar is staffed in the evening to accommodate the crowd.

I think Wed thru Sat is too long for a symposium. Fri and Sat is enough.

Allow plenty of time for travel to layouts; if possible repeat clinics

Where to ship my products to and the contact involved

I may bring a contest model.

We're looking at this to be an opportunity to see San Antonio, so will appreciate any general tourist information you can furnish, or guide us to the best place to get it.

Driving to & from Houston is enough long driving for the trip -- the reason I'm opting out of the other tours. Wife has friends to visit, leaving me mostly free to attend.

I model in On3 but just enjoy narrow gauge and Quality layouts. I dont need to see a whole layout if its just bench work. Have good decriptions of layouts, size, scale,% scenry completed.

My wife likes other ativities designed for spouses.

You need to add a choice to contests. Maybe! At this point it is almost to early to make a decision. Especially with means of travel not determined.

Another category to include. "Would you assist attendees who are flying and not renting cars, to go to layouts!"

long enough vendor hours, Good time with people and nice location

free internet at hotel.

No suggestions, I am in On3 but enjoy your get together. A freind in Denver in On3 is joining me along with a Sn3 guy to see you show.

Have John Coker speak on the topic, Confessions of a Narrow Gauge Locomotive engineer. Which were you favorite locos? Least favorite? Scariest experience? etc.

Please avoid clinics that the main objective of the presentation is to sell their kits! There were some of this type at the recent NNG convention and they were not well received with many of the attendes leaving part way through the clinic.
